Tom Walder

Tom Walder is a UK-born filmmaker, photographer, and artist from Northamptonshire, now based in London. His fascination with moving image began in his teens through skateboarding, shaping an instinct for rhythm, motion, and visual storytelling. While studying filmmaking at the University of Greenwich, he began traveling the world as a freelance director of photography, capturing stories across continents and honing a language of light and movement.

He later co-founded 84 Films Ltd with Matt Perren, a production and rental company devoted to cinematography for feature films, shorts, and music videos. His lens has framed collaborations with artists and brands including Range Rover, Bastille, Idris Elba, Mae Muller, Dizzee Rascal, Mahalia, Jaguar, Bentley, and ArrDee, blending technical precision with visual imagination.

Expanding into directing, Walder has helmed commercials and music videos for Sigma, Fuse ODG, Hybrid Minds, Grindr, TirTir, Bentley, and Dior, while nurturing emerging musicians and creatives within London’s vibrant scene. Alongside his creative work, he frequently works as a gaffer, bringing technical expertise and a full lighting package to productions, merging artistry with craft.

Driven by curiosity and experimentation, his work explores the interplay of camera, light, and colour, continually refining a distinctive voice across directing, cinematography, and photography.
